Josephine Wall

Born in Surrey, England in 1947, Josephine Wall has painted since she was a small child. At 14 years of age she moved with her family to Dorset, England. After leaving Art College, her first job was at Poole Pottery, where she painted the bold designs of the now famous and very collectable Delphis Ware.

Much of the inspiration for her mystical images comes from her close observation of nature and interest in its preservation. Artistically, her influences include Arthur Rackam, Magriffe, Dali and the Pre-Raphaelites. Her paintings take an average of two to four weeks to complete, depending on size and subject. Jo works mostly in acrylic paint, which enables her to paint quickly, and to create textured and colourful effects.

Josephine Wall

"The art of painting is more than a career to me, it is an all consuming obsession and a love of colour and form. In fact, if I am away from my easel for too long I become restless and anxious to paint again."

In addition to painting, Jo Wall creates pottery figures, sculptures, and reproduction stained glass panels.

Josephine Wall lives with her husband at Wysteria Cottage in Poole, Dorset.

Jo Wall's art can be found at an annual exhibition in London, held by the Society for Art of the Imagination, of which Jo is a member, and in galleries across the south of England, and America.

Jo's website can be found at www.josephinewall.co.uk.
