Connla's Well is known in Irish mythology as the Well of Wisdom. Nine hazel trees grew over Connla, and they dropped their nuts, endowed with wisdom, to the salmon below, who took on the qualities of wisdom from the nuts. Anyone who drank the water of the well or ate the salmon would possess otherworldly wisdom.
